Review on 📻 Kaito KA390 Portable AM/FM Shortwave NOAA Weather Radio: Black + LED Flashlight by Brett Kolpack

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Lots of radios for one low price

I was looking for an inexpensive, portable radio that could handle all the major broadcast bands and the Kaito KA390 does the job perfectly. . The 3-inch speaker delivers a nice sound that's not muffled or tinny like some small radios, and the volume is big enough for me to hear from across the room. The tuning knob is easy to use and lets you fine-tune stations, while D-slots give you hundreds of hours of listening time. I'm glad this radio includes both the weather band and the shortwave band as not many radios have both. In the weather range where I live I can receive NOAA station Scranton/Wilkes Barre clearly and also Honesdale with a little interference. The only disappointment I have is with the shortwave. It only picks up a few stations and it's difficult to get clear stations. So if you're serious about shortwave, you probably need something else. Sometimes I listen to China Radio International on 9MHz, which is interesting. But for just over $20, I really can't complain; that's a lot of value in a small package.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Not the best

DO NOT BUY! Love the Sound! NOT THE TUNER! It is untunable, WBBM gets lost!
