Brinks 675-62701 5/8 X 7' Braided Cable – Commercial Grade with Loop Ends Review

Only the most determined thief will handle this crude cable like the most advanced home or car security system. Using this cable to attach a high voltage RV surge protector to a power pole and have a strong feeling that the next upgrade after that will be either a plutonium filled Tupperware container or a part-time SWAT team member. If you need safety or containment, go ahead and stop worrying about it.

I'm tired of looking for a really thick cable to lock my bike. This isn't a 5/8 thick cable that will slow down the thief for another 30 seconds or so. Mine arrived today and measures 14.2mm by 14.9mm making it a 9/16 vinyl coated cable. On the plus side, it's lighter because it's not, and of course I'll keep it for its affordability. However, I will never look at the Brinks security label with the same appreciation again.

Thieves stole my expensive Fat Wheel Scooter 1 week after receiving it, 1 WEEK! because this cable was severed with bolt cutters. My lock helps but looks like they broke it in just 2 or 3 tries. Probably less than a minute. The inside of this cable was something like cotton fiber, and the woven steel you can see through the plastic cover is all there is. Don't be stupid like me, I'm so disappointed. I even bought it because it was 5/8 inch thick, so stupid. Bad product and claims.

I was looking for a cable that I could use to connect a set of car wheels to make it a little harder to steal. This cable is perfect and just long enough to go through all 4 wheels and then wrap back up where I can then connect the two ends together. I then use a second cable through the same lock to attach the stack of wheels to a stationary object in my garage. I am looking for the strongest cable to secure my item. It meets all requirements. Looks well constructed with a 5000# cut rating. Due to the thickness and therefore the strength, it is not very flexible. I didn't feel like it would be a problem, but little did I know that I couldn't compress the "locking loops". I can't make the ends of the loops narrow enough to fit through the required hole. I am reluctant to return this item. I recommend this for those looking for "above average" cable…

Let's face it - when someone wants your stuff, they take it. The best way to secure your belongings is to make them less likely to steal than the guy next door. This is what sets this cable apart. Can someone cut it off with a grinder or large bolt cutters? Absolutely! But it's a big, knotty, sturdy *looking* cable that should withstand accidental attempts at cutting.
