Review on Brinks 675-62701 5/8 X 7' Braided Cable – Commercial Grade with Loop Ends by Mike Barnes

Scary best hardware

I can use bolt cutters. That's why I don't trust almost any cable lock. Almost all of them can be cut quietly by one person in less than a minute. So when I needed to buy a bike cable (because my new apartment didn't have good bike parking), I wanted "the thickest cable money can buy". This is where I ended up. and i am not disappointed. Yes, you can still cut it with bolt cutters. But the *size* of bolt cutters you need to physically bypass that surprisingly thick cable means it's harder to find, harder to hide, and harder to carry around once you've stolen your bike. It's not perfect but you have to be specially prepared for it and to be honest my bike isn't expensive enough to justify it. For the record, I don't wear this cable on my bike, it's too heavy and inflexible. Therefore. I wrap the cable around a foot-thick beam that supports the top balcony of the house and attach a U-lock (Kryptonite Series 2) to the cable. Works perfectly!
