My little dog got detached from his lanyard (don't know how) so I was looking for something I thought was safe. I think I found it in there. The clasp is pretty tight and I can't imagine it opening for any type of pull, tug, jump, twist, etc. Who knows what it will be after years of use, but for now I'm very happy with it. . The only downside is that it can be a bit difficult to get a hold of her collar ring, but that's probably because the ring is small. I prefer to cause a little inconvenience, and she - to be safe on a leash. I also think it's good that the leash is still a bit chew-resistant. She loves to chew and loves to carry it in her mouth and play with it. Would buy again and again.
