I didn't want them to be too tight for my son so I ordered 11-12 years ago. (He is 9 years old and about 75 pounds, 52 inches tall). He's not on the swim team, he only gets chafed when he buys the lining of traditional boxing shorts, so a friend suggested these. Although this size fits well, they were a little roomy at the waist and I was afraid they would sag when wet. But I (and he) liked the product so much we let them grow and ordered the next size down. It's the real money, although it hasn't been tested with water. Although I do like the quality, the thickness and construction are reminiscent of the Lands End sunshirts he swims in,
