Difficult to learn but worth the time.

I am very satisfied with this scanner. Granted, there's a sharp learning curve. But once you get comfortable with your system/site/group/channel paradigm, you'll see that this is an amazingly powerful scanner. Reception seems to be good, trunking works perfectly. I should point out that if you're listening to a taped system, you MUST make your own tape plans! I thought it was out of the box and I almost returned it before tracking down this information. Once I set up the custom frequency plans everything works fantastic. The sound is surprisingly good (I don't even need an external speaker in the car). In short, YES, it will take time to learn. Throw away the CD manual and find a simpler manual online. The ("simple" version still seems complicated, but he explains it well.) Once you understand how everything works, you'll really love this scanner.

Pros
  • Please confirm whether you would like to receive digital or analogue communications before purchasing. BCT15X is not a digital scanner
