Carefully! There is no instruction manual.

Just received the scanner. It feels solid and I expect it to be a great radio but it doesn't have a printed manual at all. It includes a copy of their site's wiki pages as it is a "manual" - which would be nice if it weren't sparse and you didn't have to trawl through thousands of web pages trying to figure out how to do it - it is very easily. I don't need to watch any third party YouTube videos to understand how to program the scanner. I've been building my own ham radio and programming…

Pros
  • BearTracker mobile scanner with 9000 channels, advanced dynamic memory system, short range radio detection technology and more. Compatible with Remote Head BC-RH96

.Where is the instruction manual?

.YEEEEEEHAAA! Nothing for a beginner. If you don't feel like studying and looking for operating modes/instructions on the Internet and configuring them. Otherwise .if you know and understand abbreviations and incomprehensible operating instructions. this scanner is great! I worked with him and bought a Garmin GPS GPS18X computer off Amazon with an RS232 port for the rear port. I tried running it from WIN10 on a Toshiba Satellite and it was a disaster. I've had major problems and crashes with…

Pros
  • TrunkTracker III keeps you up to date on what's happening on Motorola, EDACS and LTR systems. Volume offset for a single channel. Alpha Tagging
Cons
  • Secret

Difficult to learn but worth the time.

I am very satisfied with this scanner. Granted, there's a sharp learning curve. But once you get comfortable with your system/site/group/channel paradigm, you'll see that this is an amazingly powerful scanner. Reception seems to be good, trunking works perfectly. I should point out that if you're listening to a taped system, you MUST make your own tape plans! I thought it was out of the box and I almost returned it before tracking down this information. Once I set up the custom frequency plans…

Very happy with this excellent radio! Programming was initially time consuming as it could be done using the front panel controls (we are a Macintosh family and MAC software NOT INCLUDED), but in literally less than 5 minutes I spent reading the "Online User Guide" I flipped through your laundry list of Cal Fire and National Forest Service frequency lists and adding radio groups and subgroups to the practical sections. "Easy as pie" is how I would describe the programming process, so I find it…
