When I installed my fire pit, I was disappointed in the height of the flames. It was only about 8 inches max. So first I bought a new adjustable regulator (0-20 psi), and tested again. Now the gas pressure was much higher, and it put out more gas, but there was not enough oxygen to burn, so the flame was about 3-5 inches from the burner when it was on high.So I bought this mixer to replace my original of 90,000 btu's. The holes in this mixer were much bigger, and it lets in much more oxygen, and the flames now burned normally (not away from the burner) - but with a height of almost 12 inches.Once I completed it with lava rock, the flames now approach 15-20 inches high. It's awesome. The last thing I need to fix is the whistling noise. I should have bought a non-whistling supply line, but I didn't think it would be a problem. But when it is on high, the whistling is quite noticeable.I have to admit, I love my fire pit!
