I used this to convert a Ryobi 18V 4Ah battery for a children's car conversion (Power Wheels from the manufacturer) to 6V . I had to solder it between the battery and the fuse but it works fine. When I measured it it was just over 6V, which is perfect for upgrading from a lead-acid battery to a lithium-ion battery. I didn't measure the power consumption under load, but in my case it hardly gets warm after prolonged use. The motor gets much warmer than the converter. I didn't leave the battery connected for long when I wasn't using the car, but I think it uses a small amount of power so I disconnect the battery when I'm done.
