I had an LED lamp above the aquarium for several years, but it cannot be compared at all! This light is a thousand percent better! The vibrant colors of everything in the aquarium, including the fish, are beautifully displayed. It was easy to set up. The remote has good range and is easy to set up. The remote is way better than most remotes and makes sense. I like the sunrise and sunset feature and the fact that I can set the blue depth I want for the moonlight color. Another great feature is the low profile. The low profile doesn't distract from the tank either.
