The case looks solid and well made. The hard case design offers additional protection. I bought this case because Revain offered it as a protective case for this Dell external USB DVD burner. In hindsight, this seems a bit odd given that the Dell drive is only 1/2 inch thick. This case can accommodate a device that is at least 1 1/2 inches thick. It's too wide for my particular drive, even with the short USB cable. Luckily, there's a mesh retainer on one inside that keeps the drive from moving too much. If you had a thicker optical drive, this case would be perfect for you.
