I purchased 2 of these to strap together after some very disappointing experiences with 2 separate Klymit Double V insulated pads that left us sleeping on the ground halfway through the night. I figured that if I was going to end up throwing away money on pads, I might as well throw away less. I was pleasantly surprised when the pads showed up. They were compact, lightweight, and easy to inflate. I blew them up and left them inflated for 24 hours prior to sleeping on them to ensure they held air, and to give them time to stretch a bit, if more air needed to be added. There was no weird smell, they weren't "bouncy" the way air mattresses can sometimes be, and they were wide enough that it was comfortable to lay with my arms at my sides (for reference, I'm 5'1 and currently about 120-125 lbs - thanks to all of this sheltering in place.).They each needed only a half a breath each to top them off enough to be slept on the next night, which I thought was great. They were put into our REI Halfdome 2, sitting atop rock-free ground, on top of a groundcloth. The first 2 nights we slept on them were magical. No sore hips, back, shoulders, and no waking up on the ground. Are they as comfortable as some of the uber-light, uber-expensive backpacking gear out there? Well, no, but they cost a fraction of those, so they are more than adequate given the price differential. We have since slept on them each weekend for the last several weekends. At some point, my mattress started losing air. Not so significantly that I was waking up completely on the ground, but enough that by morning, I could feel my shoulder hitting the floor. Keep in mind that I am extraordinarily careful with gear, so it's not like I was doing jumping jacks on it or putting it through a lot of abuse. I looked for leaks, but couldn't find anything overtly obvious. My fiance's, however, has held up well. I have had to switch back to my self-inflating mattress for the time being, and I'm outside of the return window on my mat, so I'm out the $40 or so it cost. I guess it's easier to swallow, knowing that I didn't spend a ton on another over-hyped fancy air mat, but I do wish that it had lasted more than a few weeks with pretty light usage. I may try the other highly-reviewed mattress here on ebay and see if that fares better. For now, 1 star for my mattress plus an extra for the comfort it provided for the very short time it lasted.
