The Canon EF 400mm (Prime) is a real treat. This is my first super telephoto lens from Canon and I really like this lens. I will never sell this lens because it's really good. 1) The build quality is absolutely superb, it's built like a mini tank. Extremely durable. The white-cream, black-red coloring of the lines looks like a space telescope; very impressive design. Absolutely no play, every screw and mechanism is correctly tightened. Very useful for a lens of this size is the built-in lens hood, which extends even further and makes the EF 400mm look like a kind of "telescopic sight". 2) The auto focus is very fast and can quickly target multiple subjects such as birds. hides between branches for wildlife photography. Or you can just switch to manual focus mode and use the focus ring. 3) Images are very clean and sharp even at f/5.6 and without IS f/ 11.2 (or 12) and camera shake control, images are still very good, not the best but really good at 800mm! I recommend using a tripod for more stability with teleconverters. 5) It is very light compared to other super-telephoto lenses, but can still put some strain on your neck with the camera strap. I usually hold both the camera and lenses in one hand. This is a great super telephoto lens for your collection!
