2008 Scion TC, works great. I asked Lowes to cut out the key for free and program it using this guide. You have 2 steps 1 for the buttons and 1 for the transponder chip so the car can start. NO NEED TO VISIT THE DEALER!1. Start by sitting behind the wheel and using the original key in your hand (new key on your knee)2. The key is removed from the ignition switch 3. The driver and other doors are closed (windows open) 4. Driver's door unlocked 5. Quickly insert and remove the original key from the ignition four times6. For the fifth time, insert the original key into the ignition switch and leave it there7. Open and close the driver's door six times8. Remove the original key and the transponder indicator will light up and stay on9. Quickly insert a new key with a new transponder into the ignition lock10. Leave the new key there. Notice that the transponder indicator is flashing12. It takes about 60 seconds for the transponder to accept the new key (Count)13. Please note that the transponder display has stopped flashing! Congratulations! This means the key has been accepted and the car should start1. The driver's door is open, the key is removed from the ignition lock.2. Insert and remove the key into the ignition twice within 5 seconds.3. Close and open the driver's door twice within 40 seconds.4. Insert and remove the key from the ignition switch.5. Close and open the driver's door twice within 40 seconds.6. Put the key in the ignition switch and close the driver's door.7. Turn the ignition on and off once to program the remote while keeping the original codes. Switch the ignition on and off twice to program the remote control and erase the original code. Turn the ignition on and off three times to check how many remote controls are currently registered, or five times to delete all registered remote controls.8. Remove the key from the ignition lock.9. The system should now lock and unlock the vehicle. Depending on the selected mode, once, twice or five times. One to four times slowly to indicate how many remote controls have been programmed.10. Within 40 seconds: simultaneously press and release the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons.11. Within 3 seconds: Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the remote control.12. The system should now LOCK and UNLOCK the vehicle. Once to confirm registration, twice to indicate programming failed.13. Repeat step 10 within 40 seconds to program additional remote controls. Up to 4 remote controls can be programmed.14. To exit programming mode, open the driver's door.
