I am a solar panel installer and ordered this crimping tool specifically for crimping 6 and 8 AWG wires. To test this I tried crimping the ferrule onto a 6 AWG wire. only to see the ferrule fall off the wire after crimping. So I used an 8 AWG die set for my 6 AWG wire and spade lug. it pulled tight but also left wings which is a sign of stalling. I didn't take the time to go up on the roof with him to check my 8AWG wires. maybe later when it's cooler.
