Solid hydraulic press tool

Thing works fine. My little one can almost crimp a 2 gauge wire, how easy is that thing. I love that there are grooves for different dies to keep them in place, others I've used don't have this feature. The grip also says it's crimped to 80kN, which is more than some, although I can't verify that.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Unsafe

NOT WHAT I PAID FOR. upset.

I am a solar panel installer and ordered this crimping tool specifically for crimping 6 and 8 AWG wires. To test this I tried crimping the ferrule onto a 6 AWG wire. only to see the ferrule fall off the wire after crimping. So I used an 8 AWG die set for my 6 AWG wire and spade lug. it pulled tight but also left wings which is a sign of stalling. I didn't take the time to go up on the roof with him to check my 8AWG wires. maybe later when it's cooler.

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Expensive

Great buy for the price and more.

Let me first say that I was impressed when I received it. I didn't know it came in a fancy hard plastic box but it does and it looks great and works fantastic. I've crimped several 1/0 ferrules, even the oversized wire, and it works fantastic. I even put a 4AWG ferrule in a 0g ferrule and it crimped perfectly with the right size crimp terminals. It's a little hard to squeeze the handles together, but as long as you squeeze it a few times and firmly, you end up with joints that will never come…

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

I used a crimping tool to add an extra 7" of length to the positive 4AWG battery interconnect wire with my Jaguar XKE's new WOSP starter. In order for the crimping tool to crimp properly, the leads must be secure, it is very tight and I had to support the tool on my chest while using one hand to operate the tool's pump handle while holding the lead and crimping it firmly with the other. for crimping dies The tool did a great job but I'm sure I could have used a third hand.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Contact Seller

3 stars is average but they work third hand.

The clamp requires 2 hands to operate, making benchtop or under control repairs easy. In the field, they are very difficult to use by one person alone. You have to hold the main handle with one hand and swing with the other. No pressure is applied to the pump handle to bring it back for another compression stroke. A 3rd and sometimes a 4th hand is needed to hold the deadlength collet. I powered up 4/0 and number 8 and compressing the assembly was difficult at best. I have a semi-helpful…

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Almost OK
