The original starter relay had an output for the relay coil. Original relay 722-1211-212 made in USA. Newly made in Mexico. With the original relay, the ground was through the relay housing. Over time, the connection to the ground deteriorated as the hull rusted. When we installed this we had to make a new connection to one of the ground terminals. Looking down at the relay, hot went to the small terminal on the right and ground went to the small terminal on the left. The cables to the starter were connected like the original. This was installed on a Polaris 4 wheeler. Started right after installing the new relay, before the starter relay just clicked. I disassembled an old relay and found that the relay contacts were in poor condition - there was only 25% contact on one side and the insulating material around the contact was beginning to melt. This is also how I discovered how the case is used as a mass - all by a small spring.
