Another story of the engine mount Honda Odyssey

07/23/20. *UPDATE* 283,050 miles still valid. So far no problems have been noticed. 04/17/20. *UPDATE* I've ridden about 55,000 miles (currently 268,574) on these mounts and haven't had any issues so far. Since everything is said about all aftermarket mounts being just junk and OEM, I would say with confidence that these mounts contradict that. I recently inspected these mounts and found that they are still in good condition and work just as they did after installation. Anyone looking for active engine mounts for their 2006 EXL Ody. it's definitely worth trying them out. For the price I don't see what could go wrong. I would buy them again considering they lasted a year and 55,000 miles. For most, it's several years of driving. I hope this helps you decide. I should give you a little insight into the problem that led me to the engine mounts. When we accelerated or the van went into "eco mode," he would shake and almost knock his teeth out of his head. It gradually got worse, probably because the bracket kept breaking. I should also mention that after replacing the mounts (which fixed many of the vibration issues when accelerating) I found that the vibration was still present in the van. This turned out to be a bad CV axle on the driver's side. After I replaced it, the van now runs almost like new. So if you swap out the mounts and you still feel vibration under acceleration and at 40-60 mph, check the CV axles. At the same time, the front wheel bearing on the driver's side was replaced. In any case, if there's some fairly severe vibration when accelerating, I'll definitely check the mounts. So I was very skeptical about buying aftermarket mounts because of all the bad aftermarket reviews. I hesitated to install them after receiving them. I finally ordered them with 2 day shipping and they arrived as expected. The fit was perfect for our 2006 Odyssey EXL-RES. There are no problems with the seller at all! I really wish there were more aftermarket bracket reviews as there is so much to say about how bad Honda brackets are. I hope this helps someone who is thinking about it themselves. As I mentioned, even after paying for shipping with two days shipping, I was hesitant to install them because I was wondering how they would work. I ended up installing them and was amazed at how well they worked. I found that my old mounts were broken, specifically the rear hydraulic mount. I found that three of the five fasteners were bad after pulling them out of the van. Anyway I installed them and took the van for a test drive and it was almost like a new van! I definitely recommend these mounts at the moment. I don't know how long they will last, but if I get a year or two of these I'll be thrilled. Brackets cost about 10% of what the Honda dealer told me so I could afford to replace them every year until the van was out of service forever! I have 213k on the van and will probably need the van for a few more years. We average 4,500 miles a month in a van, so I'll find out how they're doing pretty soon. I've attached some photos of the old mounts so you can get an idea of what they look like too. The first picture is the front bracket on the radiator before I cut off the outer rubber cover. The second is after I cut the screen and you can see the tear in the main part of the support rubber. There should be oil under that thick rubber (where the upper engine mount bolt attaches). I think one way to fix the fasteners would be to poke a small hole in the thin rubber protector you see in the first picture and see if the oil comes out. If you do this, be careful! Maybe under pressure! If there is oil, the main rubber is broken or torn. This idea came from the fact that when I removed the old rear mount, the flimsy rubber looked like a balloon before I took the weight of the motor off the mount. I'm not sure if this is a good way to diagnose the problem but I don't see how it would damage the mount as there shouldn't be any oil on top and the thin rubber is just for protection I think. main rubber mount. I cut the rear bracket after removing it from the van as you can see in the other photos. I wanted to see the inner workings and hopefully understand a little better how they actually work. The little donut-shaped thing in the fourth picture is an electromagnet. I have yet to fully understand how the mount actually works, but the electromagnet turns on and off which somehow moves the mount or acts as a shock absorber with oil. As I said, I have yet to figure out how this works in detail. All I know for now is that it seems to be working. One thing I noticed when replacing the brackets was that the rear bracket had failed so badly that the top motor mount was actually sitting on the steel structure of the bracket bracket. . No wonder why it vibrated so much when accelerating or in eco mode. No I have new brackets in the van, I can see where the old bracket has rubbed against the aluminum bracket attached to the engine. I also found the transmission mounts to be a lot easier to replace than I expected. I think anyone with a good tool kit can do this job in about a day. An invaluable tool is a long (3 foot) extension to access the front engine mount bolts. The only thing I couldn't do with this extension was the passenger side in the back. I used a box wrench to get this. Will try to update this review as I have ridden miles on these mounts. I know there are some very good videos on YouTube on how to change mounts. One of the people who helped me the most was Jamnajar. This is a 2005-2007 Honda Odyssey. They did a great job explaining the steps to be taken and sat and watched the work. They didn't remove the exhaust Y-pipe, but I did because I needed to do something else. I think I should take it off better, but that's just my opinion. Overall I am happy with the seller and the product so far. I know the parts I ordered worked and the seller did a great job of getting them to me as requested. I know this is a long "review" for what is only supposed to be a product review, but as I mentioned before, I wanted to make sure I had the best reviews before taking the plunge. If I had to order them again I would do so in a heartbeat. There is still vibration in "Eco mode" but I'm pretty sure it's a design issue. I haven't had any problems for over 1000 km. The van drives like a new car. I would still buy them again if needed.
