Great simple device. The item arrived with the instruction manual (which included a list of codes and descriptions) in a resealable zip-like plastic bag. It really looked like it had been used before. It didn't matter because it was in good condition and worked exactly as promised. Follow the very simple instructions and you'll have a diagnosis in minutes. After getting the code and description from the device (and manual) I simply googled the make/model/year of my machine using the code. it detailed the potential problem, the symptoms I may be seeing, and possible corrective actions. My code told me there was a problem with the MAF(?). I'm not a car enthusiast and that didn't mean anything to me. But after googling, I saw the potential problem. Before taking it in for repair, I made simple do-it-yourself suggestions, found it online and fixed the problem by simply replacing the air filter. I spent $18 on this unit and another $10 on the air filter and my problem was solved. Taking him to the auto repair shop would have cost at least an additional $100.
