I bought this for my aunt as a Christmas present. It arrived on time and in good condition, so I wrapped it up and gave it to her for Christmas. She opened my gift and decided to take it out of the box and learn how to use it. BATTERY WAS ALLOWED! Yes, it did come with a battery, but the little "clock" battery it uses died and needed to be replaced. I had a replacement part that was the same size and shape and was able to replace it immediately. I will definitely be more careful when buying electronics from amazon.com in the future.
