Review on CKLau 4Kx2K Ultra HD 2-Port HDMI KVM Switch with USB 2.0 Hub and Audio Support - Control 2 Computers/DVR/NVR, Keyboard Mouse Switching for Linux, Windows, Mac, Unix by Phil Kuebler

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Easy setup, excellent cable management; but the rear USB keyboard/mouse ports are unreliable.

I bought this unit because I liked the easy connection on the back of the unit for any PC connected. I upgraded from an old KVM with VGA ports and speaker/mic cables. My old KVM was just a workhorse, never stalled or let me down, just worked exactly as expected when I hooked up a server or PC for repair; I was hoping it would be a simple replacement, updated to use HDMI. Good: For the most part, this is a pretty good replacement for my outgoing KVM. I've even used regular HDMI cables as well as some DVI to HDMI converters with no problems. Extremely responsive vendor who went out of their way to try and resolve the issue I was having. and the keyboard is buggy, especially the mouse. For this setup I used a plain old Dell USB keyboard, nothing fancy, and a standard plain Microsoft mouse. both are wired. The connection dropped intermittently, mainly for the mouse, until this KVM channel could no longer be used without shutting down the device. I tried another mouse and after a few days they even sent me another KVM to test; unfortunately all without success. Fortunately, there is a USB 2.0 hub port on the front of the device. Plugging a hub in there and then plugging a keyboard/mouse into the hub ensured the device was solidly stable. Having had a spare hub, great PC cabling, and incredible vendor support, I'm keeping this device and giving it 4 stars.
