Review on 🐺 Husky 32218 Center Line TS: Spring Bars, 800-1,200 lb. Tongue Weight Capacity by Luis Adu

Excellent weight distribution.

Not only is this weight distribution hitch beneficial, it's a great hitch. I'm towing a 31 foot 8,500 pound trailer with my 12,000 ton half ton truck. The trailer came with a quality Reese chain hitch which balanced the weight well and leveled the truck. However, the rig wobbled significantly at highway speed. I've been towing trailers since I learned to drive, so I'm well acquainted with the sway and feel of the trailer behind the tractor. This setup required two hands firmly on the wheel, no distractions, while driving at 68 mph, no weather or traffic jams. After turning on the semi-trailer pass, I drove on the US highway instead of the interstate to keep my speed under 60. After much research on adding friction rods for the Reese trailer and other types of sway control that cost over $500 - $750, I settled on the Huskey Centerline TS. Like most more expensive systems, the Centerline TS includes sway control as an integral part of the system. Chain clutches do not have friction bars and require their addition. The Centerline TS price of around $300 makes it a very affordable option compared to hitches that cost twice as much. It even makes a difference to chain-style clutches, which start at around $200 and quickly climb to over $300 if you add pendulum control or go with a premium brand. Installation was easy and took about 40 minutes. Directions were comprehensive and accurate. This hitch bolts on and the frame requires no drilling (unlike Reese's more expensive two-shoe build, which also includes sway control). The only problem with the installation is that the two bolts on the hitch must be torqued to 380lb-ft. I fitted everything to the trailer myself and then drove the truck to a local body shop that had the required extra large torque wrench. Most car repair shops do not have this tool, but repair shops that also deal in buses or large trucks have the option. 5 minutes and a handshake later, the hitch was ready to go. Riding the Centerline TS is day and night compared to the chain style. The truck and trailer were very stable and moved together. I was able to set the cruise control to 72 and drive stress-free. This compares to the fact that I have never used cruise control with a chain setting and have limited my speed to 68. The truck also rocks less with the Centerline TS than with the chain clutch. Passing semi-trailers drive straight ahead. The trailer's wind resistance still gives some boost, but it moves the entire truck and trailer together rather than letting the trailer wag its tail. Overall, I am incredibly impressed with the clutch and can only recommend it. The difference in driving the same trailer with the same truck is almost the same as comparing no balancer hitch to a switch to a chain installation. The only downside I have with this hitch is the wiring process. You must reduce the clutch weight before you can disengage the spring bars. This includes using a hitch jack to raise the hitch and the rear of the truck together. You have to lift quite high and it can be difficult to get high enough depending on how flat the ground is. I did the same procedure with the old weight distribution hitch, but the Centerline TS needs more stroke. All in all, this is a minor inconvenience and in no way a deal breaker. And it's only slightly more uncomfortable than a weight-distributed chain clutch. All in all I would buy this product again and would recommend it to anyone buying A. their first hitch that requires weight distribution for their vehicle. . Or B. dissatisfied with the effect of a cheaper chain clutch and want to upgrade it. One final note: a lot of people think that weight distribution hitches are only for big trailers. In fact, they make hitches for small crossovers and cars to tow small trailers. A trailer that the pickup doesn't even know it's coming back from can cause a lot of rear axle sag on a smaller car. For this reason, the Centerline TS has spring bars of different strengths for different trailer weights. Make sure you get a kit rated for the weight of your trailer. (Update October 19th) I've had this hitch for 6 months now and have driven it almost 3,000 miles. This included driving US 37 through the Appalachian Mountains, driving through town in traffic, and driving across the prairie in strong crosswinds. The clutch has held up well and I can still recommend it unreservedly.
