I bought this kvm switch to use one keyboard and mouse for two computers. It automatically selects the correct input when you turn just one computer on at a time (most of the time.) If both computers are turned on you can still switch back and forth between them by using the button on top of the box it's self.The only reason for only 4 stars is that it doesn't always select the right input when one computer is turned on. Sometimes when one computer turns on it doesn't switch to that input (or any input) and you have to press the button to select the right computer. Since I have the switch located on the desk next to the monitor this is not a big deal but worth noting.
