What is the actual material?

This necklace is beautiful, but my issue is that the listing claims this necklace is gold. The actual pendant (owl) is stamped S925 meaning sterling silver. I have no idea what it's actually made of, but for the price I assume it's costume jewelry. I don't like the discrepancy

I love this piece. I love the odd shaped face of the pendant, the chain, the front clasp- everything.
