You've heard so much about the things they put in our dog food and it's very scary. My little dog food free Shih Tzu has been self feeding for the past 6 years and is doing great. The problem was that I was thinking about it and wondering if something happened to me or there was an emergency, who is cooking for him? So I started researching kibble for dogs to find the best one to supplement his diet so that there would be no stomach upset when he ate kibble. We tried different brands and he didn't even touch them. Then I came across the Merrick brand. I read everything I could find about the company and how they make dog food. I liked what I read. So we bought a small bag from the pet store and tried it out. I think it was beef and sweet potatoes. He ate a few pieces as a treat and then I started putting in a few pieces at a time and mixing it into the feed. He spat it out a few times, but then started picking it up and eating it again. He hasn't done anything like that with any of the other brands. He has been eating Merrick food for two years and feels healthy and content when he eats. We mix beef, pork and duck together in containers so he always has a mix of different foods in his bowl. My dog is grain tolerant so this is a great food for him. We also just got a small rescue dog and she loves this food. They will find you at lunchtime so I think they like what they eat.
