These sponges are designed to clean the fur felt hat. They really work and do their job perfectly. I had an old, dusty hat that had been mistreated for several years. I watched several videos on how to clean a hat. All the people who have been in this business have recommended this type of sponge for getting the dust and everything off your hat first. I used these sponges for the first attempt to clean it and to my surprise it worked. Along with the brush, these things cleaned the hat so well it's hard to believe this isn't a new hat. Works well I recommend.
