Review on πŸ”Š B&K Precision 3001 Sine/Square Wave Audio Generator - Versatile Frequency Range Ideal for Audio Testing by Christopher Clearfield

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Good but doesn't last long

At first it was an adequate tool. I wasn't expecting an NTIS calibrated generator at this price point. That was enough for simple signal tracing and test circuits. Ordered May 2016. Pulled it out yesterday to do some checks and the signal is noisy, unstable and unusable. The guarantee has expired, so there are no special claims. Too cheap to fix. Other comments: The banana plug terminals are not 3/4" apart so the standard double banana to BNC needs to be fitted with an extra ground wire to work as the sync output is a sine wave not a square wave The battery has no indicator light, so it's easy to reset to 9 volts and it's more expensive than AA. The documentation is excellent, with clear instructions, a chart, calibration procedures, parts ordering information, and concise, easy-to-understand warranty information. Great potential, but not fully exploited.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No machine gun
