Best cut in Lighting & Ceiling Fans

Installed this cord yesterday with the help of my son who came home for the holidays. It is used in our covered patio. Lights normally, brighter would not be desirable. I used four sets as our patio is quite long. Each length of fairy lights was longer than I wanted so I experimented with cutting them and rejoining the ends and it worked for me. Here's how: 1) Make sure the solar panel is charged. 2) Turn on the headlights. 3) Set the mode to one of the solid modes (not blinking). 4) There are two wires going to each light (we'll call them wires N1 and N2), two wires coming out of each light which then go to the next light, and another wire going into no light (we'll call them this a wire PT). 5) Cut three wires between any two headlights where you want to trim the excess. 6) Strip the N1 wire (each of the two from the previous bulb) and the PT wire. 7) Momentarily touch the N1 and PT wires. If the indicators light up, it means this is a working configuration. 8) If no lights come on, extinguish N2, then touch N2 and PT shortly. If the indicators light up, it means this is a working configuration. 9) Permanently join the two wires of the working configuration by soldering, butting, or other suitable method. Use liquid or solid tape for weather protection. The other unused connector (N1 or N2) does not need to be connected. I suspect this is a communication cable to control the light mode. This is necessary, but should not be prevented. Following this procedure will likely void your warranty or manufacturer support, leaving you on your own.
