Overall I like this instrument and I think it's great for the price as a small telescope. It's really compact, about the size of a cardboard tube in a toilet paper roll. You twist it to extend it by about an inch and a half, and then you can look through it and focus on the subject, then twist the knob next to the eyepiece to zoom in. very good, with a clear picture and no distortion. However, it does magnify objects by a factor of 300, more like 30x, meaning images can be magnified to around 5 times their diameter with the naked eye. Maybe 300x magnification is possible if you connect the device to your phone. with the supplied adapter and use the phone's zoom function. While the grip that came with the phone mount is nice (and fits my Iphone 12 easily), it takes a minute or two to properly attach and position the image on the phone. And at least on my phone, the picture wasn't that sharp, even without zooming on the phone. It seemed a little blurry, although the image was only clear through the phone or just through the scope. In my opinion this is a great compact telescope for the price. can be used with a phone but understand that it takes some effort to connect (you won't be aiming and shooting with a 10 second setup) and may not be quite as clear, other reviewers may have better luck with their phones. unit at a good price.
