Review on πŸ“ INCRA TINYT03 3-Inch Precision T Rule by Jeremy Carpenter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Handy size and weight, affordable accuracy

I will not waste your time repeating the advertised features of this tool. If you're reading this, you probably already know the quality and features of Incra. If you don't know, visit their website to find out more. I particularly like this particular model for its small size and the way it locks securely onto two surfaces. It fits snugly in the breast pocket of my shop apron. (Marking tools should always be "on hand") Japanese Shinwa squares are also great for marking and measuring, and I will always have them on hand. They are better suited for machine settings or bevel markings. It's faster, more convenient, and easier to mark all square joinery: springs, springs, lap joints, etc. CONSTRUCTION: The RED aluminum tee is easy to hold and will stand out on a crowded workbench. With a flat top and symmetrical WIDE T-handle, it fits comfortably in your pocket without falling into the "black hole" that all my apron pockets seem to have, making it easy to carry with you or swap out. Because the plate is flexible and not rigid, it doesn't dig in my ribs or kidneys when I reach for something. RED T also makes it easy to see if I forgot to put it back in my travel tool box or tool shelf. SIZE: Most carpentry jobs (about 95%) only need this small size. I'm serious. When was the last time you needed mortise locks or mortises larger than three inches? Unless you care about wooden frames, this size is best in most cases. Although I have many Incra tools, this is the one I use the most. It's inexpensive and convenient, so I have TWO of these: one in the store and one for a portable tool box. By the way: They are durable! Not because they are heavy and rigid, but because they are light and flexible. I bent a few large ones and they still work accurately. This miniature version can withstand the rigors of a portable tool box. If you drop it on cement you can knock it out of alignment, but two screws allow you to quickly set it with your favorite datum square. . In the box it was perfectly square, matching my Starrett squares and the German engineer's squares. Anytime I can get a quality, American-made tool that's so useful with great features at a low price it tickles me. It certainly falls into that narrow category.
