Helps reduce the amount of cables needed to run from one location to another. Keep in mind that this only transmits video, not audio or power. You must provide electricity at the location of the cameras to power them. In my case, I have a couple of cameras at home, but I put the recorder in a shipping container that I use for the barn. So I only needed 2 Cat6 cables (works with Cat5e but I only use 6 because I had one) for 8 cameras. Since I have 32 cameras I have 4 of them on each end. (Remember you'll need a second one on the other end to switch them back.) So instead of running 32 Siamese wires, I only had to run 8 Cat6s. Much simpler and leaves room for expansion. If I later upgrade to POE cameras I don't have to rewire 8 of them and if I use a switch I don't have to use them at all. They are also very well designed. Super light and they look nice too. I'll post some photos after I've finished any other updates I'm doing.
