Review on ๐Ÿต Matcha Bowl - Kaneta Tenmokunagashi Matcha Chawan (Standard) by Michelle Williams

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Pretty but not quite as pictured

You will read two types of reviews on this product: customers who received the item as pictured (which is great) and customers who received something similar, but completely look like another product or brand. If you look under the initial product information on the main page, you will see that 110 sellers are selling this product for $9.67 and up (this will vary depending on when you view the listing). Revain now sets the default product page to automatically replenish your cart with the seller offering the product at the lowest price. I put this item on hold in my shopping cart for months and its price fluctuated every few days, presumably due to different sellers changing their prices and Revain defaulting on different sellers. So you can order this product today from the default seller and order it again tomorrow, each time from a different supplier. This can result in you receiving different versions of a product even if you ordered them almost at the same time. Even when it comes to ceramics and glazes, no two objects are alike. I have ordered this item 3 times - once as a gift and twice for myself. 1st: When I ordered it as a gift, I ordered through a JAPACOMO seller in November 2015 and it arrived exactly like the product picture, albeit a little shinier. But the pattern and shape of the glaze remained the same. It was really great and I almost kept it to myself! * See first photo below. *Unfortunately the first order was a gift for exchanging an International Secret Santa with a stranger and this is the only photo I have. Not the biggest but you can see the glazing is similar and the shape is the same. Less for a chavan but it was sooo pretty. It arrived in a plain white box with no tags. 2nd: This time I (without my knowledge) ordered from another seller --- "NuBlissful" (May 2016). I was not very happy with the product I received. It was a different shape, size, luster and glaze pattern than pictured, although the design was similar. It's beautiful, but it's just not the right product. I returned it. *Cm. 2nd photo below.* This came in a matte green box. * See 4th photo below. *3.: I ordered again from JAPACOMO seller in May 2016, hoping to improve my chances of getting the first version I received. stupid again. But the icing on the cake on this particular piece was way prettier than the previous fake, so I decided to just keep it to myself. * See 3rd photo below. * It's not quite what I expected, but it's actually a great thing. I'm not sure how much this will help you right now. I even received two different products from the same seller. It's kind of a gamble if you order this. I did a reverse image search on google on the product photo and you can find a real chavan in the photo for sale elsewhere but it appears to be rarer and will cost you at least double what you would pay for Revain (plus postage) . You probably won't get the real Kanet Tenmokunagashi Chawan pictured here, but you will get something very similar. And a beautiful Japanese-made chawan for $15 is a real win! If they just updated the product photo I think they would have a lot more happy customers :) People just need to know what to expect! Of course, when you're dealing with ceramics, no two pieces are alike, so I don't expect anything to look *exactly* the same. But for me, the differences between the product image and what I received were not limited to small artistic differences. It was clear to me that I received completely different products from at least two different manufacturers.
