Disappointing on Price and Promise

This camera disappoints in many ways. Most of the time it pans, tilts and zooms, but it also freezes regularly and has to be cycled to unfreeze. It's pretty annoying. Another big issue is the very soft focus and blue shift when used more than 5ft from the subject. At close range, the image quality is good, but nothing special. When used from a distance (a possibility implied by the zoom level available) this is rather disappointing. Everything looks as if seen through a blur filter and the colors are washed out. It often measures light levels and either over- or under-exposes the video. Other problems. There are only three presets on the remote (no other software options). The IR receiver requires the remote control to be almost directly in front of you. The remote control cannot be set up for use behind the camera. (In our setup, the cameraman looks at the image on the PC and from there uses the remote control to move the camera. But when you press the button to go right, it moves left because you're in front of the camera, not behind it (we bought a separate programmable remote and IR extender to get around this.) The available control software is also pretty terrible and sometimes just doesn't work. It's almost impossible to control the camera from a PC and send to Zoom at the same time. We're sticking with this camera for now because it was such a big investment and not all of these issues were discovered within the 30 day return window. Once we realized it was a marriage, we couldn't get it back. My advice: only buy this camera if you plan to use it up close and with minimal pan/tilt/zoom dependency. In other words, don't buy this camera.
