Review on Heli Coil 554414 M14X1 5 Metric Kit by Christopher Gulledge

Did exactly what I needed

I used this Heli-Coil M14 x 1.5 kit to repair a stripped thread on a 2006 Honda Civic motor mount. A bolt hole bushing and stud are part of the timing case cover, and the long bolt and stud tore out the aluminum threads when removed to gain access to replace the water pump. This kit filled the bill in terms of repairs. Note that the long bolt hole in this application required two inserts to fully bolt the hole. I had to cut two threads that were above the surface of the mounting boss after the second insert was fully seated on the first and seated deeper in the hole. A side cutter did it easily. In all, I used three of the six bits that come with this kit to completely rethread the hole. As an improvement, I would like to see the required 9/16" drill bit in the kit. Preferably with a 3/8" or 1/2" short shank. Currently only taps, drivers and six bits are included. So if you have the If you don't already have the required 9/16" drill bit, you will need to purchase one for an additional fee. Also, it would be nice to see a square or hexagonal bead on top of the coil adjustment tool. It currently only has a sliding T-handle that goes in tight spaces with limited access A square or hexagonal shank at the top of the insertion tool allows for the insertion of a faucet handle or socket and ratchet bit, with an extension for deep or recessed holes if needed.
