Review on ๐Ÿถ Classic Dog Anxiety Jacket by Thundershirt by Anna Reed

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Must buy for dogs with anxiety!

I recently adopted a second dog and she came with a lot of luggage. Separation anxiety, leash reactivity and lack of socialization - so every experience is a scary new thing! I heard about the thunder shirt but didn't need one for my first dog which is the coldest dog in the world. My first dog was very helpful in socializing my new dog and showing him that everything was fun and not scary, but I knew we needed more. I've worked with children on the autism spectrum, so I understand how it works: pressure and weight are very calming as they counteract sensory overload. Weighting average, especially given the rave reviews. Had I read anything or looked at any of the pictures I would have known what I was getting haha but after a particularly stressful long drive I just hit BUY! However, it definitely lived up to expectations and reviews. My new puppy calmed down as soon as I put him on. We worked with him around the house for a while and walked around the neighborhood several times to teach him to wear it and then he wore it when I left the house. I have dog cams so I can follow him. Instead of howling and barking and rushing to the door and then pacing outside the door most of the day - first he sat quietly outside the door and then joined my other dog for a nap and the watching neighbors. . (Warning: buy a dog cam, the motion alerts are fun! I always get them when dogs sprawl out in the middle of the floor - what a life!) We also used a vest under the harness when we went to the dog. Park - Getting to a dog park is a nightmare as my new dog loses his little puppy brain when he walks off the leash and meets another dog. He turns into an animal with the most vicious voice you've ever heard, but when he gets to another dog, he'll just stick his whole head up her ass for a good sniff. he's not perfectly behaving, he's much calmer - no more barking or thrashing, just whining and pacing.
