We use this unit all the time to check the temperature of food for doneness. I've even used it when baking bread as I don't always hear the pop I used to check doneness when I was younger. This thermometer works great and is very easy to use. It seems accurate and I can read the temperature without reading glasses which is a big plus. Sounds a bit silly but I also really appreciate that it's red and not black as I can see red well. when I put it on. That way I can find it again if I forget what I did with it. Black things just disappear in the shadows and are very hard to find. So the bright red color is a huge improvement from what I understand. All these qualities (readability, ease of use and red color) make this thermometer one of the best thermometers that we have used in the kitchen and for outdoor cooking.
