The hardest part is taking out the bulbs and removing the diffusers. For the housing that houses the wiring, you will need a Phillips screwdriver. You will also need a small flare nut, wire cutters and wire strippers as only one pigtail goes to the existing flare nut and the other wire to the connector needs to be cut off. The switch bracket broke and I replaced it, my wife pulled the chain very hard to turn the light on or off and when she let go of the chain it flew on the blades and startled our dog! Enough. I coated the derailleur with Motorkote to reduce friction and hopefully the plastic doesn't crack. I have yet to replace my mother-in-law's fan switch.
