Review on ARKON Bike Phone Holder Mount for iPhone X 8 7 6S Plus 8 7 6S Galaxy Note in Black - Retail Version by Paul Barnes

Impressed with holding power and stability

Looked a bit cheap but fit the handlebars on my big V-Twin bike just right. It has small rubber pads, so it is suitable for different handlebar sizes. I was skeptical about this as my rods are significantly smaller in diameter than the mounting clips. Anyway, bolted it on and drove 380 miles with no adjustments and the bracket held and didn't move. I see that the plastic handle can crack in cold weather, especially if you pick it up and try to move it, so time will tell. The mount is at a good angle so I don't see the need to move the phone when it's in a good position. The mechanical clips hold my phone in place - I tried this by mounting the phone, rotating the mounting block and trying to drop the phone - but it held tight without moving. The tension rope is only an additional insurance against loss. I have no reason to doubt the durability of this device and would recommend it to a friend. For reference, I have one of the smallest smartphones: LG34C Optimus Fuel. But a larger phone will do as well, since the mechanical clips are quite widely spaced. UPDATE: 04/15/15. In January 2015 I sold my big V-Twin and bought a smaller V-Twin (V-Strom 650). This little phone mount snapped into place and works well. I ride all year round and have had no problem using the bindings in temperatures as low as 5 degrees. It's plastic and I don't expect it to last forever, but for now it continues to serve me well. UPDATE: 10/15/15 -- Drove over 12,000 miles with this great little phone holder with no problems. I will buy another one if this ever breaks. Wonderful little item. UPDATE: 8-5-16 -- Sold my Wee and switched to V-strom. I also updated my phone. The phone holder continues to serve me well. The release mechanism is starting to get a little sticky (the arms don't open immediately when I press the button) and the rubber bumpers holding the phone are starting to peel off, but I expect the mount will hold up for at least next year . The gentleman who bought my cunt liked my phone holder so much that he ordered one. Great product at a great price. Update 10/24/20: I've lost count of how many bikes I've installed this mount on, but now I have a 2020 iPhone SE and it's installed on a Versys x300. The strap has stretched over the years so I cut it off and tied it shorter, but the buckle is still strong and works well. I also have a few ram mounts, but I like this little mount because it doesn't protrude more than a few inches from the bars, while the ram mount protrudes about 8 inches depending on how it's adjusted. Great little product!
