This is normal, but although the large joints are shielded, the nearest oval shields are between the joints. As if they were made by someone who didn't know what they were supposed to look like. I will see how they wear but my first impression is that they are very tight even though I ordered a size up (XL). As such I cannot recommend these gloves even though the goatskin looks and feels like a high quality material. Just poorly executed design.
