Review on Suunto EON Core Bungee Adapter by Francisco Russell

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Overpriced, lacks elasticity and no redundancy

I bought this to provide redundancy over the regular watch-like strap that came with it. The problem with the original tape is that if a pin breaks off a tape, the device will fall off. This bungee in the photos appears to provide redundancy so that even if a bungee breaks, the dive computer is still attached to the wrist. However, this is not the case as the bungee cord is a single cord. If it breaks, the device will still fall down. Also, the bungee doesn't have enough flex to fit through the cuffs of my drysuit gloves. So it's totally unsuitable for me. But even if it could be used, be aware that it cannot be easily configured on the fly. This can be common with ratchet straps, but be aware that if you use different types of suits with different thicknesses on your arm, you will need to lengthen the pin and readjust the length of the cord each time. Also, because of this, you also need to leave an extra cable to use thicker thermals. So if you're using your thinner wetsuits (or switching to a tropical wetsuit) you'll have a few extra dangling cords. At the very least, they should have provided a little extra cord to protect against shocks, so you can cut different lengths for different occasions.
