Review on Enhanced V-Trail 2.0 Trail Running Shoes for Men by Vibram FiveFingers by Emanuel Frison

Revainrating 3 out of 5

What an ankle-high fit.

Vibram seems to be taking a new direction with more of its range since the V-Alpha. The only thing the V-Alpha and V-Trail 2.0 have in common is the high ankle fit and I'm definitely not a fan of this new design aesthetic. This causes several problems, firstly it doesn't allow the shoe to fit like a glove on your ankle as your ankle is partially covered by the shoe creating dead space and gap no matter how tight you tighten it. Second, because you have to tie your shoelaces tightly, it limits your mobility; which worries me at the moment as they are new because if you have ever owned vibrams you know there is an initial 'breaking in period' and after that they gradually weaken which means you have to tighten them that much and they're new, I can only imagine how tight you'll have to tighten them when they actually take the shape of your leg. Also, the fingers are slightly oversized, which has never been a problem for me with Vibrams. They usually fit like a glove. Rubber is a nice touch as it looks like it will help with durability and eventual water protection - something I've wanted Vibram to start with for a while - hopefully they add this feature to more of their product range. I love the materials, the stretch upper is nice and soft and they feel very durable. You're just not for me. Back to TrekSport.
