These clips are easy to install. My cans already had screws so I just removed the screw and then put back in with the clip on. The heights is about 1.25” from the edge of the can. This is the same heigh that the Halo retrofit rings for cans have their clip.My only complaint is that they are WEAK AND CHEAP. One you put the light in and pull it down, it’s likely they’ll bend. Not a huge deal if it’s a one and one project but in the future when yon replace lights you might be replacing clips too.I used a mix of these clips and the Halo Recessed ML7RAB Retrofit Adapter Band (also sold on amazon). The band is WAY strong and will. It bend. It’s also way more expensive and painful to install compared to these (the screw holes don’t align perfectly).Would recommend these but wish they were stronger and better quality.
