I stand corrected—They worked great!

After becoming extremely frustrated with how flimsy these things were, I wrote a scathing review and placed an order for a different type of clip. When I had the same issue, I realized it had to be a matter of stupid user syndrome so I had to rethink it. It dawned on me that the problem was that the springs on my lights were narrower than the canister, so of course they would put too much inward stress on the clip. Once the light came on in my brain I just bent the clip 45 degrees, and then…

Pros
  • These work fine for recessed cans that don't have them.
Cons
  • Not suitable for outdoor use

Just what I needed in my review

After shopping big box stores w no luck, this was the part I needed for my retrofit need. Installation was tedious as tap screws didn't go in as easily as imagined. I had to use a hole punch to penetrate the canister as drill bit was wrong angle. Once screwed in however, my springs fit right in and led lights are nice and secure and don't sag down.

Pros
  • For 5 to 6 inch retrofit cans
Cons
  • Self-tapping screws may damage existing wiring or fixtures

Works fine, but tricky to install

The clips ship with a #6, Phillips head, self drilling sheet metal screw. This is very difficult to drill into the recessed light can. The vendor could make this task easier by providing a hex head screw. There is another clip for sale on revain, that clips onto the light can. This would make installation much easier, but the price is almost twice as much. The higher price would be worth it if you only have a few lights to install. If you go with this clip, I suggest you invest $15 or $20 in…

Pros
  • Simple design for hassle-free operation and maintenance
Cons
  • May not blend in seamlessly with existing decor or furnishings

Works perfectly for can lighting. Included self tapping screws a plus! Although 1 bag did not have it. Good thing I had exactly the same sizes in my tool box. Ofcourse with self tapping screws it's a pain making a mark or a dent at the beginning specially when you're in an 8 foot ladder and looking up. It's hard to put pressure on it without the screw coming off the bit a few times. It took me about 5-7 minutes for a screw to penetrate the can (rest included - not that young anymore). I don't…

Pros
  • Provides easy installation option for downlights
Cons
  • May require additional insulation or weatherproofing in certain applications

Works Perfect: my feedback

First off you need the right tools to install these. A power drill and a 90 degree angle attachment are a must. Once you have those and figure out the placing in your can lights, these hold LED retrofit lights into the existing cans perfect. I installed 60 of them (30 cans, 2 in each light) in approximately 6 hours (which includes the time to remove the existing cones, and install the new LED lights).

Pros
  • Tools & Home Improvement
Cons
  • May not be compatible with certain types of LED bulbs

Can be flimsy and bend

Can be flimsy and bend up from pressure from springs being installed, self tapping screws work just fine, these clips should be a little stronger so they don't bend up, and you have to go back in an straigten them out. Good product , especially for older cans , but could be a great product if built just a little stronger so the spring pressure does not bend them up.

Pros
  • ‎US Green Lighting
Cons
  • May not provide the desired level of illumination

Saved time and money.

These worked great. I used a 90 degree adapter on my impact driver to install them. They seem expensive for what they are, but much cheaper than buying the one brand of LED that I found that would work without them. As other reviewers have noted, I would have thought that a 20 pack was 20 pairs, not 20 individual clips, so this pack will do 10 lights.

Pros
  • Complements any contemporary or traditional decor style
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use with certain types of specialty bulbs or fixtures

Easy to install and they work perfectly.

I used a right angle drill and a stubby screwdriver to install the clips. They are much easier to install than I expected and they work very well. I recommend buying them. $1 each (ouch).

Pros
  • I bought these clips to fix old canister lights. Easy install and work well.
Cons
  • May cause insulation to become too hot if not installed correctly

exactly what I needed!

Exactly what I needed to install 6" retrofit led bulbs to my existing recessed fixtures. Requires $15 right angle drill attachment. Installed at 1.5" up from edge on my cans.

Pros
  • Thicker design: will not bend easily
Cons
  • May not provide enough clearance for larger fixtures

Makes installation easier

Replacing my old (22 years) can lights with an led insert. My cans did not have these, actually, not having these is why my can rims were loose.I put these in, and they were perfect to insert the led insert.I measured the placement at a local Home Depot to fine out how far from the ceiling, up into the can to place these ( 1-1/2" from ceiling ). Use a right angle drill attachment or a snug nose Philips. Comes with self tapping screws.

Pros
  • Adds charm and sophistication to any lighting system
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use in high-vibration or seismic environments

Not the ones i thought they were

My fault for ordering the wrong clips. I wanted the ones that had the U-Clip at the bottom so i didnt have to screw them to the housing

Pros
  • Offers a DIY-worthy solution for home lighting renovation projects
Cons
  • Housing may not be rated for use in certain types of commercial or industrial settings

Cheap solution for a simple problem

These work OK for the intended purpose. It's easy to not screw these in at the opposite side of the can so that the retrofit LED lights I installed were tilting showing a gap in ceiling upon install. These also kinda spin around on ya since there is only 1 screw securing these. But short term they work, and I don't see any reason why they shouldn't work long term too.

Pros
  • Can be adjusted easily to fit different ceiling heights
Cons
  • May not be compatible with certain types of light sensors or timers

Just 1 screw and holding this straight for alignment to install. Install across from eachother 2 per can and the coil loaded clips on the lights can slip into the notches on the sides of these and push right up. Best if at least 1.5 to 2 inches above the bottom of the can so it can be pulled down later more easily. Works well. Pretty universal for the lights with the wires on them needing these on the cans.

Pros
  • ‎3.1 x 1.1 x 5 inches
Cons
  • May cause visible gaps between the fixture and ceiling

Quick retrofit clips

These clips install very easily and do the job perfectly. I have yet to find a need to install the retaining screw. The tension of the clip is more than enough friction to hold the light in place without movement. It takes about 30 seconds to install them.

Pros
  • Worked great comes with self tapping screws
Cons
  • May not be compatible with all types of down light fixtures

As advertised - my new review

Perfect bracket for the job. I agree with others that it is much easier if you drill a pilot hole, using a 90 degree driver. Another tip that worked well was to put a couple of layers of duct tape into the can before drilling - it helps hold the bit in place making it easier to get a hole started.

Pros
  • Exactly what I needed to retrofit my existing (15 year old)
Cons
  • May not fit securely in all types of ceilings

Wear gloves - my new review

Some of the ceiling lights I was replacing are an odd size, and the spring clips on the new flush mount couldn't reach the existing c-clips. Using some long screws and a spacer I was able to place these clips in exactly the right place to allow the new flush mounts lights to replace the old can lights. However, wear gloves when installing. The metal is razor thin (no reason to be any thicker), but this means if the screw binds and the clip starts spinning it will cut your hands up like a…

Pros
  • Easy to install, even for those with zero technical expertise
Cons
  • May produce unwanted buzzing or humming sounds

Incomplete set of clips received

the metal used to make clips is very thin and can be easily bent during installation, we did not receive a complete set, as ordered, we had to make our own clip in order to finish the job. The screws that were sent with the order should've been self-tap screws but they were NOT so we had to make a trip to hardware store.

Pros
  • Provides versatile use for any light fixture installation
Cons
  • May produce uneven or inconsistent lighting

Served Their Purpose - Convinient

Great for old cans. Self tapping screws worked fine. Just marked the spot and drilled in screw. Same for the other side, I pretty much eye balled placement of 2nd piece across with out getting carried away with measurements and it worked just fine. Only complaint is the cost, hope more companies start producing these to see more competitive pricing. Don’t spend anymore on "fancier/more sturdy” looking ones, these will work even for heavier aluminum trims like mine.

Pros
  • Comes in a set of 20 clips, perfect for a variety of lighting installations
Cons
  • May not provide sufficient ventilation for heat dissipation

Works Great on LED Retrofit Lights

I've installed 7/10 of these to finish up my update from CFL lighting to the LED retrofit lights. On my first can, it was very frustrating as I couldn't get the screws into the can sheet metal as the screw kept wandering. It didn't help that I had to work at an angle cause I didn't have an angle driver (although I think that wouldn't have helped me either). The solution to my problem was to just drill small pilot holes. At first the drill bit was wandering as well, but I held it steady and went…

Pros
  • Complements and elevates any modern decor style
Cons
  • May not provide adequate space for wiring or insulation

Get the job done, but weak metal

These clips are easy to install. My cans already had screws so I just removed the screw and then put back in with the clip on. The heights is about 1.25” from the edge of the can. This is the same heigh that the Halo retrofit rings for cans have their clip.My only complaint is that they are WEAK AND CHEAP. One you put the light in and pull it down, it’s likely they’ll bend. Not a huge deal if it’s a one and one project but in the future when yon replace lights you might be replacing clips too.I

Pros
  • Saves time and money by eliminating the need for costly professional installation
Cons
  • May produce unwanted glare or shadows
