I'm learning never to trust new parts.
New coil and points where I originally bought to get this tractor working again. After replacing the coil I moved on to the spark plugs, wires, wire harness, ignition key. etc. This turned out to be a bad coil, put the old one in and it started right away. It's hard to believe it took a month to figure this out.
