Review on 🎥 Logitech PTZ PRO 2 Conference Room Video Camera - HD 1080p, Auto-focus, USB, Black/Silver by Timothy Cole

I use this camera instead of a webcam. There's a big board behind me, so I use the presets to zoom in on different parts of the board. During a presentation I can just jump to the next section and press the next preset on the remote and the camera will focus on the right side of the whiteboard. For that it works quite well. Almost all of my complaints boil down to the fact that it's impossible to configure. Of course you can use the remote to change the look, but suppose you want to change the sleep timeout or use a USB connection to control the PTZ or something - then you're out of luck. Pros: - works great with Linux, no configuration needed - it's a camera. Cons: - When I'm not using active streaming it goes to sleep. So when I turn off the video in Discord, it turns off after ten minutes. When I turn the video back on, it's now looking at the ground, so I have to find the remote to point it at my face. I think I'll write a script that will detect if it's idle and periodically poll the thread just to keep it awake. If you move it, it will refocus, but if it stays pointed in the same direction for a long time, it can drift. out of focus (probably due to temperature changes). I usually just give one of the zoom buttons a quick press, which triggers a refocus, but it would be nice to be able to set the focus recheck interval. Sometimes P&T stops working for reasons I don't understand (but Z still works). Disconnecting and reconnecting fixes this. If you lose your remote control, you're out of luck. There is no other PTZ control option.
