Review on Maxxair 00 04000K 12V Roof Vent by Montez Vazquez

I like the fan itself and think it's a good value. I wanted to smoke but they make you buy a much more expensive version to get that luxury so I went with the cheaper version as it will still have a rain cover. I gave it 2 stars because they added four tabs on the sides of the roof flange that prevent you from using your existing rain cover and there is no warning about this. With its "improved" design, you buy Maxxair's new patented rain cover (FANMATE Vent Cover) at a much higher price than a standard rain cover. I didn't have to buy a new rain cover, let alone for $54 when the regular version is closer to $30. The Revain photo is incorrect as it shows a flat flange around the fan. Even the installation instructions still specify a flat flange around the fan. When I opened the box, I noticed various protrusions, but didn't realize that I couldn't reattach my current rain cover before removing the old fan. Then it was too late. I had a big hole in the roof of my RV, it was raining.
