We have two cats and we kept seeing kitty litter all over the house. When we only had the older cat I always tried a smaller mat in front of the litter box but he just jumped over it when he got out of the litter box. He didn't like the way it felt on his paws. This rug is large enough to place a litter box on and large enough that cats cannot jump over it. (We have a closed tray so we position the door to the longest side of the rug.) They don't seem to mind at all as they feel soft and not rough on the paws. It seems pretty good for catching debris. We still have foreign objects in the house, but not as much as we used to.
