I bought the 4x6 to put under my coffee table. We have hardwood floors and two rescue dogs, one cleans like crazy so I vacuum all the time and the other is from a hoarding situation, still working on homeschooling and loves to pee on every rug we have under the coffee table. We had to throw out three carpets last year because they all got so gross. I decided to look around for machine washable rugs and found these - I wish I had done this a year ago. They're on the borderline between carpet and mat - the fibers are very short, and it's kind of a velvety material with a nice sheen. Since the fibers are very short and have no loops, this carpet is very easy to vacuum and wipe dry - it does not pick up dirt or liquids and dog hair does not become permanently entangled. I also like the pad - it's non-slip and prevents liquids from seeping onto the floor. The colors are very bright and beautiful. A few other reviewers noted that their carpets were less gray than the photos, and mine was the same - the parts that appear light gray in the photos are actually off-white. Our living room has both white and gray tones, so the color difference wasn't an issue for me. I've had the rug for about two weeks now and have washed it once before - I put it in the washing machine on the gentle cycle with cold water, regular Tide powder and some Lysol detergent, then tossed it a way. shower curtain rod for drying. The wash didn't damage or fade, and it took about 24 hours to air dry, making this the easiest carpet cleaning I've ever done in my life. I really wish they came in larger sizes (something in the 7'x9' to 9'x11' range) because we have a rug in our dining room that I'd like to replace with one of these. Overall, this is a great product for those with pets (or kids) who need something low maintenance. Update: I have machine washed this rug probably 6 times in the last 8 months and it still looks brand new. That's magic.
