Review on πŸ’Ύ Crucial MX300 750GB SATA 2.5" Internal SSD - CT750MX300SSD1 by Todd Cowdrey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Performance without price! An ideal compromise in memory size. not too little and not too much! Precisely!

I have a Mac Mini that's a few years old with a 1TB 5400rpm hard drive. When I first got it, I cloned it to an external SSD (a different brand than this one), but the SSD was only 256GB, and since I'm using Parallels, I had another external SSD for VMs. Eventually something happened when the SSD cracked and I had to revert to a painfully slow HDD. I've been eyeing a 1TB SSD and expecting it to drop below $200 at some point. One day I cursed 1TB SSDs and stumbled across these. A 750GB SSD that's actually more than enough for my needs, and it's under $200. I feel that if 500GB is good it's the right compromise, but when you're working with virtual machines that may require backups this can become very difficult, while a 750GB drive is just perfect! First thing I did when I got my hands on an SSD. had to move large files from my mac mini to external storage, copy my VMs from the external SSD to the internal HDD, then format the new SSD and clone the drive. It took about six hours due to the many large files I had to move. I edit a lot of video and have a lot of video files. Upon reboot, I immediately saw the difference in speed, especially when I logged in and opened the VM. Browsing the web is also much faster because every element on a webpage is loaded into the cache. This brand rocks. very fast and very solid. Now I feel like I'm on a computer that's running smoothly with memory, processor speed and now hard drive speed too. What's really cool is that I can just turn off my Mac Mini, grab an external SSD and plug it into my MacBook. pro and boot from an external SSD so I can have a personal desktop when traveling.
