Required Two D-cell batteries add weight and balance this fan to keep it on your desk. The fan housing measures 6" x 6.5", so it's larger than the 5" fan itself. The fan can be adjusted by depressing the base until the airflow is at the desired angle. The fan has two settings, but they seem to be pretty close to the same speed. The fan sits firmly on the base and is incredibly quiet. really quiet so I accidentally left it on overnight a couple of times. To my surprise it's still running on the same two D's -Batteries I originally installed Fan moving air goes exactly where you direct it Fan on a raised surface about three inches high so there is absolutely no problem with it having papers on my desk in the Stands away There's nothing like the movement of air on your face to keep you cool on hot days and this little fan gets the job done.
